In a scene
that can only be described as berry messy, 48-year-old Zoe Muncha lost
her life while judging the annual “Pie in the Sky” Baking Contest.
“I told her
to stop at 68 slices,” said her husband, Frank Muncha, “But she loved judging
pies. She refused to give up. She’s a hero.”
Zoe Muncha
popped like a balloon on Monday, March 16th, when she consumed 150
slices of apple pie alamode. Witnesses
report Muncha ricocheting backwards when she finally burst. People had to duck under tables to avoid
flying debris.
“I knew
there’d be an accident sooner or later,” said last year’s baking champion,
Goody Keeper. She said, “Everyone
thinks they can whip up an apple pie. We had too many contestants. The
Pie in the Sky Baking Contest shouldn’t be accepting just any old slop in a pie
tin.”
Police
won’t comment on whether foul play was involved.
The Pie in
the Sky Society wouldn’t announce a Grand Pie Winner on Monday because Muncha
died before she could name her favorite. Some contestants got so angry they took their half-eaten pies and went
home.
